The Bossa-Nova

It was only in the late 50s, that imposed a musical style which fused Brazilian rural music tradition of cabaclo and North American jazz. The term Bossa Nova, which means "new wave" was born in 1958 in a song performed by Elizete Cardoso, composed by Tom Jobim and written by Vinicius de Moares. This song entitled "Chega de saudade" went around the world. The magic of these hot melodies, these refined harmonies subtly syncopated rhythms imposed Brazilian music to the world
